Chrissy approaches hair organically, with a precision honed over 14 years. Cutting and styling are at the centre of his practice, with a command of shape and texture that runs from sharp, graphic cuts to big, expressive volume. His work plays with contrasts: clean lines and rough texture, controlled shapes and loose movement, polished finishes and hair deliberately left undone. He builds each look around the person, bringing out character rather than imposing a fixed idea of beauty. His references draw on the subcultures that first inspired him as a teenage emo and scene kid, while his breadth as an all-rounder gives him the freedom to move between them.

Growing up in Glasgow, music was an equally formative influence. Nights spent at many renowned music venues in Glasgow introduced him to musicians from around the world, with house, techno and live bands becoming a lasting part of his life. Alongside full-time salon work, he worked in the music industry as a promoter, stage manager and tour manager on his time off from the salon. Those connections opened doors to music-magazine cover work with artists including Denis Sulta, VTSS, The Blessed Madonna, Honey Dijon, Haai and Daniel Avery.

Chrissy began his training at Toni&Guy, developing his craft in cutting, barbering and colouring before refining his precision cutting at Sassoon. Early collaborations with art students led to directing hair for the Glasgow School of Art fashion shows. He has since assisted artists including Sam McKnight and spent four years on Guido’s team, working on leading shows in Milan and Paris. He has also led his own show in Paris.

His music and red carpet work includes Courtney Love, Måneskin, Maisie Williams, Sevdaliza, Dorian Electra, VTSS, Cou Cou Chloe, Charlotte Plank, Alessi Rose, Tommy Cash, Rose Gray, Sega Bodega, Mount Kimbie, Surusinghe, Denzel Curry, Jack Harlow, Mike Skinner, Sault, Bree Runway, Logic1000, CMAT, Shanti Celeste, Wolf Alice and Confidence Man. His editorial work includes covers for Mixmag, DJ Mag, FACT Magazine, NR, Metal, NME, Access Magazine, L’ABBEYE, ODDA, Present Space Magazine, Boy.Brother.Friend and Wonderland. Collaboration runs through his practice, bringing technical skill, attention to detail and an instinct for character to work with other artists.
